Transport Supervisor / Planner Overview:

You will play a pivotal role in overseeing and enhancing the planning and transportation operations for our client’s fleet of seven vehicles and four trailers. Your primary objective is to ensure the seamless execution of daily delivery plans, maintaining the highest standards of efficiency and compliance.

Transport Supervisor / Planner Key Responsibilities:

- Manage the day-to-day operations of the transport department, guaranteeing the timely and accurate delivery of goods and services.

- Uphold a safe and efficient working environment by overseeing staff and operational processes.

- Ensure compliance with all relevant transportation regulations and laws.

- Maintain and update fleet documentation, encompassing vehicle check sheets, training records, health and safety, and purchase order numbers.

- Develop and implement transportation strategies to optimize efficiency and reduce costs.

- Coordinate transportation activities, including route planning and driver assignments.

- Monitor and track shipments to ensure timely delivery and customer satisfaction.

- Lead, guide, and evaluate a team of drivers, providing training and performance assessments.

- Collaborate with other departments to streamline processes and enhance overall operations.

- Maintain accurate records related to transportation activities.

- Manage recruitment and agency relationships to ensure an adequate resource pool.

- Work closely with the Warehouse and Sales teams to synchronize activities.

- Make necessary alterations to the transport plan, providing feedback to relevant teams.

- Ensure smooth daily deliveries, adhering to legal and statutory regulations.

 

The Ideal Candidate:

- Proven experience in a similar role with a track record of effective team management.

- Resource planning expertise to maximize cost-effective use of resources.

- Strong knowledge of transportation regulations and compliance requirements.

- Excellent organisational and time management skills.

- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with drivers, staff, and stakeholders.

- Ability to analyse data, identify trends, and make informed decisions.

- Proficiency in implementing and utilising transportation management systems or software.

- Excellent PC skills, including Microsoft Office applications.

- Works well under tight deadlines with meticulous attention to detail.
