WSR are looking for a Project Engineer for our client based in Wellingborough


Location:
Wellingborough
Salary:
£45k - £50k
Role Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Hours: Monday–Thursday 08:00–16:30, Friday 08:00–13:30

Are you an experienced Project Engineer looking to take ownership of innovative engineering projects from concept through to production? This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in developing advanced mechanical systems for heavy vehicle applications, working at the forefront of design, analysis, and customer collaboration.

Project Engineer Role Overview:

You’ll lead the technical development and delivery of engineering projects, taking responsibility for ensuring solutions are robust, efficient, and aligned with customer requirements. Acting as a key technical interface, you’ll collaborate closely with internal teams, suppliers, and customers to deliver high-quality outcomes.

Your work will include analysing existing designs, optimising performance, and developing best-fit solutions that meet both technical and commercial objectives.

 

Project Engineer Key Responsibilities

  • Lead engineering projects from initial concept through to series production
  • Design and develop mechanical systems and assemblies
  • Produce and maintain detailed CAD models and engineering drawings
  • Carry out feasibility studies, design reviews, and engineering calculations
  • Act as a technical point of contact for customers and suppliers
  • Resolve technical challenges and support continuous improvement
  • Define and manage Bills of Materials and engineering documentation
  • Support testing, validation, and product development activities
  • Contribute to product change processes and quality compliance

 

Project Engineer Skills, Experience and Attributes

  • Degree in Engineering or a related discipline
  • Strong experience in mechanical design and project delivery
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing processes such as machining, fabrication, and welding
  • Proficiency in CAD and FEA tools (ideally Siemens NX and ANSYS)
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and perform engineering calculations
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work across teams and with external stakeholders
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capability

Desirable

  • Experience within the automotive or heavy vehicle sector
  • Knowledge of suspension or structural systems
  • Exposure to working in a project-led engineering environment
