Salary: Up to £32,000, with some flexibility depending on experience

Working Hours: Monday–Thursday 08:00–16:30 | Friday 08:00–13:30

We’re currently recruiting for a Materials Planner to join a well-established manufacturing business in the Wellingborough area. This is a key role within the supply chain team, focused on making sure materials and components are available at the right time so production can run smoothly and customer orders are delivered as planned.
You’ll be working closely with suppliers, logistics partners and internal departments, helping to coordinate material supply, keep stock levels under control and support the day-to-day running of production.
Materials Planner Role Overview:
In this position, you’ll take responsibility for planning and managing material requirements to support production schedules. You’ll monitor demand, place orders with suppliers, keep an eye on inventory levels and act quickly if any supply issues arise.
Materials Planner Role Responsibilities:
- Managing material requirements through planning systems and raising purchase orders with suppliers
- Creating and maintaining production plans based on customer demand and incoming materials
- Working with suppliers to ensure materials and components arrive on time
- Monitoring stock levels and identifying potential shortages before they impact production
- Escalating supply issues and helping find solutions to minimise disruption
- Managing excess or obsolete materials and supporting cost control initiatives
- Producing reports on supplier performance, inventory levels and forecasts
- Supporting continuous improvement within the materials and supply chain processes
- Ensuring purchasing and materials documentation is accurate and properly recorded
Materials Planner Skills, Experience and Attributes
This role would suit someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and has a good eye for detail. You’ll need to be organised, proactive and confident communicating with both suppliers and colleagues across the business.
Ideally you will have:
- Experience in materials planning, supply chain, inventory control or a similar role
- A good understanding of MRP or material planning systems
- Strong organisational and analytical skills
- The ability to manage multiple priorities and work to deadlines
- A proactive approach to solving problems and improving processes
Experience with ERP systems such as Oracle would be beneficial, but training can be provided.
