Job Title: Financial Controller

Location: Milton Keynes

Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:30am – 4:30pm (3:30pm finish on Fridays)

Salary: £75K - £85K

An established and growing manufacturing company based in Milton Keynes is seeking an experienced and motivated Financial Controller to join its dynamic team. This is an excellent opportunity for a CIMA-qualified finance professional with a background in manufacturing to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the finance function within an ambitious and forward-thinking business.

Overview of the Role

Reporting to the CFO, the Financial Controller will take responsibility for the day-to-day financial operations, oversee the finance team, and drive improvements in systems and reporting. The successful candidate will combine strong technical skills with a proactive and hands-on approach, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and insight across all financial activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly management accounts for multiple entities, including reconciliations, fixed asset maintenance, and month-end journals.
  • Support annual budget and forecast preparation.
  • Produce management reports, including project profitability, variance analysis, and KPI dashboards.
  • Manage the financial aspects of the ERP system (Microsoft Business Central) to enhance reporting and control.
  • Oversee debtor collection, supplier payments, and invoice discounting facility operations.
  • Supervise daily finance activities, including sales ledger, purchase ledger, and payroll.
  • Maintain robust financial controls, ensure timely submission of VAT, payroll, and pension-related returns.
  • Support ad-hoc initiatives and process improvement projects.

Key Requirements

  • CIMA-qualified (or equivalent) with proven experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong technical accounting and financial reporting skills.
  • Excellent analytical ability and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Business Central.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to collaborate across departments.
  • Self-motivated, organised, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
