Job Title: Electrical Maintenance Engineer

Location: Northampton

Salary: £47,998 p/a

Job Type: Full-time, permanent

Working Hours: Rotating Shifts: 06:00–14:00 / 14:00–22:00

A leading manufacturing business is seeking an Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join its established engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled engineer to work within a fast-paced production environment, helping to maintain and improve a wide range of manufacturing equipment while supporting operational performance and reliability.

The successful candidate will play a key role in minimising downtime, improving equipment efficiency and ensuring production machinery operates safely and effectively.

Electrical Maintenance Engineer Role Overview:

Reporting into the Engineering team, you will be responsible for the maintenance, servicing and repair of manufacturing equipment across the facility.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance activities across production equipment.
  • Diagnosing and repairing electrical faults to minimise downtime.
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives to enhance machine reliability and performance.
  • Troubleshooting control systems and electrical equipment.
  • Conducting routine inspections to identify potential issues before they impact production.
  • Working closely with production and engineering teams to ensure equipment availability.
  • Maintaining high housekeeping and safety standards throughout the site.
  • Supporting reactive maintenance activities as required.

 

Electrical Maintenance Engineer Skills, Qualifications and Experience:

  • Apprentice trained with recognised electrical qualifications.
  • Previous experience within a manufacturing, industrial or production environment is desirable.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and engineering drawings.
  • Experience working with:
    • AC/DC drives
    • Three-phase motors
    • Electrical hoists
    • PLC systems
    • Inverters
    • Relays and control circuits
    • Sensors and speed control systems
  • Understanding of industrial safety systems and electrical control equipment.
  • Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems would be advantageous.
  • Mechanical fault-finding knowledge, including gearboxes, pumps and associated equipment, would be beneficial.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
